Our different classrooms each provide a safe, well rounded environment for children ages 6 weeks through 6 years. Each classroom is designed around a specific age group with developmentally appropriate materials that allows every individual child to develop at their own pace based on their own interests and needs.
Infants
Our infant program allows your baby to have interactions and experiences to progress every milestone of development. Our infant teachers provide positive and loving interactions in order to help your baby feel safe. Every baby is able to develop at their own pace and on their own schedule. We do not have swings, bouncers, or other containers in our baby classes, which allows each baby to have ample opportunities for teacher snuggles and floor play.
Toddlers
One of the most exciting experiences in your child’s life is when they take their first steps. As they gain confidence and security in themselves, they are taking their first steps towards big accomplishments. Our toddler program allows opportunities for huge growth during the toddler years. Toddlers will have plenty of opportunity for peer interactions and parallel play. They will enhance self-help skills as well as manners, and verbal skills. Toddlers thrive on consistency and do great with the daily schedule, free play, and sensory experiences in our toddler program.
Two years old
There is no such thing as terrible twos. At Small Strides we believe in terrific twos! In our two year old program, children start our Preschool program and begin to understand group play and interactions. They become better communicators and learn to express themselves through words and actions.
Preschool and Pre- K
Small Strides is a four star rated school through Nevada QRIS which means we far exceed the standards that are required from a Preschool setting in Washoe County.
At Small Strides, we follow the Nevada Pre-K standards. Once a child (or group of children) has mastered a skill, we move on to the more advanced Kindergarten standard. Our program is geared towards cognitive development while providing a fun, supportive, and safe environment for children to learn. Through our structured curriculum, children learn through fun experiences and monthly school wide themes.
Along with social skills, our Preschool and Pre-K programs focus on math, science, creative arts, and language arts. Children will practice pre-writing and writing skills as well as learn school readiness skills. Children will learn phonological awareness and learn sight words as we focus on pre-reading skills.
In our Preschool and Pre-K programs, learning experiences are divided into small group activities, large group activities, and free play.
Extracurricular programs available
Extracurricular activities are available during school hours for an additional fee.
Little Star Dancers is available for children ages two and up.
Tae-Kwon Do is available for children ages three and up.
Tumblebus is available for children ages two and up.
Soccershots is available seasonally for ages two and older.
